Arts & Literacy Enrichment Program
During the Celebration of the Arts in March all elementary students experience an art and literacy based lesson in their classroom. Each lesson has three parts: a read aloud book, a conversation about the story and two pieces of notable artwork, and artwork created by students in the style of the artist. The resulting student artwork is exhibited at Family Arts Night. All lessons are scripted and all necessary materials are provided.
If you would like to volunteer to present in your child’s classroom contact Margo@msad51arts.org.

Celebration of the Arts
In March each year students in grades K – 5 Celebrate the Arts. 2014 marks the 9th year of this enrichment program. Luann Lawler, former Music Teacher at MIW, collaborated with the Arts Alliance for many years to develop and coordinate this extensive month-long arts program, made up of visiting artists and performers representing a variety of genres, to supplement the art and music curriculum for more than 1000 students.
Our thanks to Mrs. Lawler for her inspiration and partnership. Enjoy retirement!
We Give Back
All of our endeavors are provided at no cost. Arts experiences sponsored by the Arts Alliance are made possible by the varied contributions, generosity and talents of community members, teachers and students as well as by grants awarded to the Arts Alliance over the years from the Greely Fund, Foundation 51 and the PTO.
Annual Arts Scholarships
The funds raised by the arts raffle held during Family Arts Night enable us to award student arts scholarships each year to two graduating seniors, nominated by their teachers, who will pursue the study of the arts beyond Greely.
Arts Based Grants for Teachers
The Arts Alliance serves as a resource for the art, theater and music instructors of the district. We are willing to consider grant requests throughout the school year. Teachers are invited to request funds to support classroom needs by completing a grant application form and submitting it to our Treasurer Jennifer Kimball at JKimball19@gmail.com or by mailing an application to: Arts Alliance PO Box 6A, Cumberland, ME.
